IC Modules

To make it easy to upgrade op-amps, we have several modules suitable to allow surface mount (SMD) IC's to easily replace the older style legged components. These modules are available already hand-assembled using high-grade Audio Note silver solder. We also have an installation guide at the bottom to help.

Installation

1) Identify the type and number of op-amps in your unit. Below is a table with many types of common op-amps to help you order the correct replacement. Many more can be replaced that are not listed, these are only the more common types but it is suggested that you only replace op-amps in the audio stage as it is not necessary in other sections of the circuit.

Op-amp Module
Replaces the following original Op-Amps:
Single
5534ACP, AD711, AD811, AD844, AD845, AD847, LF356, LM318, LT1122, NE5534, NJM5534, OP27, OPA132, OPA134, OPA604, OPA627, plus more...
Dual
AD712, AD827, C4570, JRC4580, JRC5532, JRC5532D, JRC5534, LF353, LM833N, NE5532, NEC4520, NEC4570, NJM2114, NJM2214D, NJM4558, NJM4558D, NJM4560, NJM5532, NJM4558P, OP275, OPA2132, OPA2134, OPA2604, RC4558D, RC4558P, TL052, TL072, plus more...

2) Mark the pin 1 position of the existing op-amps on the main PCB. Pin 1 is usually designated by a small dimple or mark next to pin 1, or the op-amp may have a cut-out at one end. The pin to the left of this cut-out is pin 1 (looking from the top).

3) Desolder and remove the existing op-amps carefully and clean the holes left behind.

4) Insert the appropriate module paying particular attention to lining up pin 1. The modules clearly show which is pin 1 by a square pad and a small "1". Solder carefully, making sure there are no bridges and do not overheat! Clean any residue with special electrical cleaner. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WORK!! We also have special silver solder available.

5) Assemble your unit and test! The modules will take a week or so to fully run-in, after which time they will have reached optimum performance.

Of course you may not want to install these yourself, or maybe you lack the appropriate tools! No problem, we can assist you with our installation service.
