OPA627AU Dual Op-Amp Audio Upgrade Module - 2x OPA627AU SMD8 on BD031101 to SMD8
This high-performance audio module features two genuine Texas Instruments / Burr-Brown OPA627AU single-channel precision operational amplifiers mounted on a BrownDog 031101 surface-mount adapter board. Because the legendary OPA627 was only manufactured in a single-channel configuration, this module combines two single OPA627AU ICs onto a single SOIC-8 (SO8) surface-mount footprint. It features gull-wing SMD lead contacts designed to solder directly onto target PCB pads, allowing audio enthusiasts to upgrade standard surface-mount dual op-amps to OPA627 performance.
Important Configuration Note - Surface-Mount Dual Op-Amp Replacement:
- Dual-Channel SMD Functionality: Combines two individual OPA627AU single op-amps onto one adapter board to function as a standard dual SOIC-8 surface-mount op-amp.
- Direct SMD Pad Replacement For: Surface-mount dual SOIC-8 (SO8) operational amplifiers including the NE5532, OPA2134, LM4562, OPA2604, TL072, RC4558, and similar dual pinouts.
- Requires Surface-Mount Soldering: This module features SMD lead contacts rather than DIP socket pins. It is designed to be soldered directly onto surface-mount PCB pads.
- NOT Compatible With Single Op-Amp Footprints: Do not install this dual module onto PCB pads intended for a single operational amplifier (such as single NE5534, OPA134, or single OPA627 footprints).

- Active Audio Crossovers & Equalisers: Ultra-low distortion active filter circuits requiring pristine sonic clarity.
Safety & Installation Warnings (Please Read Before Installation)
- SMD Soldering Required: Installation requires precise surface-mount soldering techniques. Ensure proper soldering equipment, fine solder, flux, and ESD-safe handling tools are used during installation.
- Pinout Verification: Ensure the target PCB pad layout follows standard dual op-amp SOIC-8 pinout (Pin 1: Out A, Pin 2: -In A, Pin 3: +In A, Pin 4: V-, Pin 5: +In B, Pin 6: -In B, Pin 7: Out B, Pin 8: V+). Soldering a dual module onto a single op-amp pad layout will short supply lines and destroy components.
- Pin 1 Alignment & Orientation: Locate the pin 1 indicator dot on the PCB adapter board prior to soldering. Incorrect orientation will cause catastrophic failure upon power-up.
- Operating Supply Voltage Limits: Safe operating range is ±4.5 V to ±18 V (±36 V total). Do not exceed ±18 V.
- Power Supply Decoupling: High-speed 55 V/μs op-amps require clean power delivery. Verify 0.1 μF ceramic bypass capacitors are installed close to the supply pads to prevent high-frequency oscillation.
- ESD Sensitivity: Handle the module using anti-static precautions to protect the sensitive Difet JFET input stages.
- Module Appearance: PCB colour, silk screen printing, or lead finish may vary slightly between production batches, while technical specifications remain identical.
