AD8620 Dual Op-Amp Audio Upgrade Module - SMD SO8 on BD970601 to DIL8
The AD8620 is a high-precision, low-noise dual JFET-input operational amplifier manufactured by Analog Devices, pre-mounted on a BD970601 adapter board to convert the surface-mount SO8 package into a standard 8-pin DIL (DIP-8) footprint. Important Configuration Note - Dual Op-Amp Module:
- This is a DUAL Op-Amp Module: The AD8620 chip contains two internal operational amplifiers on a single substrate.
- Direct Replacement For: Standard dual 8-pin DIP operational amplifiers such as the NE5532, OPA2134, LM4562, OPA2604, TL072, RC4558, and similar dual-channel pinouts.
- NOT Compatible With Single Op-Amp Sockets: This dual module cannot be used in sockets wired for single op-amps (such as NE5534, OPA627, OPA134, or AD8610). If your circuit requires a single-channel operational amplifier, please see our dedicated single op-amp modules (such as the AD8610 single module).

Safety & Operational Warnings (Please Read Before Installation)
- Dual vs Single Pinout Check: Verify that your board layout accepts a standard dual op-amp pinout (Pin 1: Out A, Pin 2: -In A, Pin 3: +In A, Pin 4: V-, Pin 5: +In B, Pin 6: -In B, Pin 7: Out B, Pin 8: V+). Installing a dual module into a single op-amp socket will connect supply rails directly to signal lines, causing severe component damage.
- Strict Voltage Limit (±13 V Max): The AD8620 has a maximum operating supply voltage of ±13 V (26 V total). Do NOT install this module into equipment with ±15 V or ±18 V supply rails (such as circuits designed for standard NE5532, OPA2134, or LM4562 op-amps without reducing supply voltage). Exceeding ±13 V will cause permanent damage to the IC.
- Pin Alignment & Orientation: Verify pin 1 orientation before inserting into the DIP-8 socket. Align the dot or notch on the module with the socket on your circuit board. Reversing the module will destroy the IC upon power-up.
- Power Supply Decoupling: Due to its high bandwidth (25 MHz) and fast slew rate (50 V/μs), adequate power supply decoupling is essential to prevent oscillation. Ensure 0.1 μF ceramic bypass capacitors are installed close to the supply pins.
- ESD Sensitivity: JFET operational amplifiers are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Handle the module with proper anti-static precautions (e.g. grounded wrist strap or touching a grounded chassis prior to handling).
- Module Appearance: PCB colour, pin plating, or layout printing may vary slightly between production batches, but electrical specifications remain identical.
