The RetroSound R-TW84 is an ultra-thin, passive 8-inch (20 cm) subwoofer driver engineered specifically for vehicles where every millimetre counts. Please note: As a passive subwoofer, this unit requires an external power amplifier and an enclosure to operate; it cannot be driven directly by a radio/head unit built-in amplifier.

With a mounting depth of just 50 mm (2 inches), it is the ideal solution for classic cars and trucks with limited room for modern audio upgrades. Built around a rigid cast aluminium basket and driven by a high-performance neodymium magnet structure, the R-TW84 delivers tight, accurate low-end performance. A durable polypropylene cone and Santoprene surround ensure smooth, natural bass reproduction, while the 1 ¾ inch voice coil with Kapton former maintains consistent performance under heavy loads. Optimised for small sealed enclosures from 3.4 to 28.3 litres (0.12 to 1 cubic foot), this subwoofer adapts easily to under-seat, behind-seat, or custom cabin installations.

Amplification & System Setup:

Because head units lack the power to drive a dedicated subwoofer, the R-TW84 must be powered by a suitable external amplifier. For an ideal setup, pair the R-TW84 with the RetroSound Technophonic 5-Channel Class D Amplifier or the Stereophonic 3-Channel Class D Amplifier. These amplifiers feature dedicated subwoofer channels alongside full-range outputs to power your entire speaker system seamlessly.
