Becker Year of Manufacture List

Becker Car Radio Serial Number Year Codes

Becker Autoradio serial numbers usually start with an indication of the year of manufacturer. This is either the first letter or number, or in a few cases, the first two letters. They were either a letter, two letters or number. The prefix system was officially introduced by Becker in 1965 to coincide with the rollout of their new transistorised models such as the early Europa TR and Mexico TR models. Some newer models also combined the model designation and the serial number, Becker units from the mid-1980's generally had the first two letters of the model number as "BE" followed by the model number, then the serial number.

The cycle includes 25 unique codes, skipping letters like "I" and "O" (later "Q" was skipped as well), and included special double-letter codes "EP", "FR", and "HS" for 1982-1984, before resetting to "A" in 1990. Entries from 1993 onwards are the start of the ISO 10486 standard nomenclature that many other manufacturers used as well.
