RetroSound Universal DIN to Shaft Mounting Brackets - Pair (Bracket #292)
Description
RetroSound Bracket #292 universal mounting brackets are engineered to adapt RetroSound
dual control shaft car radios into standard 1-DIN dashboard cutouts or custom fascia panels. Positioned behind the dashboard,
these brackets slide directly over the radio control shafts to provide a rigid clamping foundation. Once the front faceplate
and trim are fitted over the shafts from the front of the dash, washers and hex nuts tighten down to lock the entire assembly
firmly in place. Designed for seamless integration with RetroSound faceplates, these brackets enable clean retrofits in
both classic vehicles and modern custom installations. They may also be compatible with other brands of radio, check all
the dimensions and details to ensure a correct fit.
Key Features:
- DIN to Shaft Conversion: Enables dual control shaft radios to mount cleanly into standard 1-DIN dashboard apertures or aftermarket repair panels.

- Customisable Positioning: Allows versatile alignment of control shafts to suit varying vehicle dashboard thicknesses and panel contours.
- Durable Construction: Heavy duty stamped metal brackets deliver rigid clamping force to prevent faceplate movement.

Installation & Assembly Tips:
- Mounting Sequence: Slide the brackets over the radio control shafts from behind the dashboard or fascia panel. Fit the front faceplate or trim plate over the shafts from the front face of the dash, then thread washers and shaft nuts onto the shafts and tighten securely, but take care not to over-tighten.
- Rear Backstrap Support: Always install a flexible metal support strap (backstrap) from the rear mounting peg of the radio chassis to an existing dashboard frame or firewall brace. Supporting the radio chassis weight from behind prevents excessive weight transfer onto the control shafts, potentiometers, and front panel.
Important Compatibility & System Caveats:
- Hardware Exclusions: Radio chassis, control shafts, trim knobs, faceplates, and shaft nuts shown in installation examples are for illustration purposes only and are sold separately.
- Fitment Verification: Always measure dashboard cutout dimensions and verify shaft spacing prior to installation to ensure proper fitment and sufficient shaft thread engagement.
