      Op-Amp Adaptor Module - Single SMD to Dual DIL

      Description:

      Some op-amps (such as the AD825, OPA627) are not available in dual packages. This adapter allows two single SO-8 op-amps to be integrated into a standard dual pinout in an 8-pin DIP footprint and is particularly popular in high-end audio applications.

      The board has two op-amp positions, marked IC1 and IC2, so each channel gets its own op-amp. Solder two single SO-8 op-amps to the board, then plug the finished module into a standard dual op-amp DIP-8 socket.

      Popular Op-Amps to Use (SO-8 Singles) - check compatibility before ordered as different parts come in different variation and pin-outs:

      • OPA627: Low noise JFET-input op-amp, popular in high-end audio.
      • OPA827: JFET-input op-amp, a newer alternative to the OPA627.
      • AD825: Fast JFET-input op-amp.
      • OPA134: FET-input audio op-amp.

      Always choose the SO-8 (SOIC-8) version of the part and check the datasheet against your equipment, particularly the supply voltage and whether the circuit is stable with that op-amp. Op-amps are not included.

      Before You Order:

      • This is an adapter board only. Op-amps are not included.
      • You will need to solder two SO-8 op-amps to the board, which requires some skill with surface mount parts.
      • Both op-amps should use the standard SO-8 single op-amp pinout.
      • The board is 11.43mm square, which is wider than a standard DIP-8 package, so check there is room around and above your socket.

      Installation Tips and Warnings:

      • Only use this adapter in a socket made for a dual op-amp. Plugging it into a single op-amp socket can damage the op-amps.
      • Check the orientation before powering up. Pin 1 of the adapter must match pin 1 of the socket, because inserting it backwards can damage the op-amps.
      • Take care with pin 1 of each op-amp when soldering it to the board.
      • Use anti-static precautions and an IC extraction tool when installing and removing op-amps.
      • A machined (turned pin) socket is recommended for the most secure fit with the round 0.018" pins.
