The RetroSound Part No. 696 universal radio blackstrap is a flexible perforated metal mounting strap engineered to support the rear of car radio chassis behind the dashboard. Attaching directly to the central rear mounting stud of the radio, this backstrap can be bent, twisted, or trimmed to align with existing factory mounting holes, firewall studs, or structural dash framing. Supporting the weight of the radio from the rear prevents strain on the control shafts, front panel, and dashboard fascia, ensuring a stable and permanent installation for RetroSound head units as well as other aftermarket or vintage car radios.

Installation & Assembly Tips:

• Mounting Sequence: Fasten one end of the backstrap to the threaded stud on the rear of the radio chassis using a suitable nut and washer. Shape the strap to reach a solid metal bracket or firewall stud behind the dash, then secure the other end with a bolt or self-tapping screw.
• Trimming to Size: Use tin snips or heavy duty pliers to trim any excess strap length after final fitting. File any rough or sharp edges, take care not to allow filings to enter any radio or speaker.
