Wavecor Speaker Driver - SW223BD02 - 4 Ohm 8¾" Alu-Cone Subwoofer
Description
The Wavecor SW223BD02 is a 4 Ohm 8¾" black aluminium cone subwoofer engineered
specifically for high performance compact subwoofer applications where ultimate sound quality, deep bass extension, and
low distortion are the primary priorities.
Powered by a heavy-duty motor structure with a large 51 mm (2") voice coil diameter, the SW223BD02 delivers outstanding power handling and precise mechanical control under heavy excursions. Featuring an impressive linear excursion of ±10.7 mm, effective chassis and voice coil venting, and an internal aluminium field-stabilising ring, it minimises distortion and compression to deliver clean, dynamic low-frequency reproduction in compact sealed or vented enclosures.
Features:
- Balanced Drive motor structure for optimal drive force symmetry resulting in largely reduced even order harmonic distortion
- Extremely large linear stroke (Xmax = ±10.7 mm) ensuring low distortion at high output levels
- Very rigid black aluminium cone to ensure true piston motion at high levels and superior heat dissipation under continuous high power
- Rigid die cast aluminium chassis with extensive venting for lower airflow velocity, reducing audible air turbulence
- Heavy-duty black fibre glass voice coil former to reduce mechanical losses, resulting in enhanced dynamic performance and low-level detail
- Large motor system with 51 mm (2") voice coil diameter for exceptional control and high power handling
- Built-in aluminium field-stabilising ring for reduced magnetic distortion at high power levels
- Low-loss suspension (high Qm) for better reproduction of subtle details and transients
- Black-plated cone and motor components for improved heat transfer to surrounding air
- Conex spider for maximum durability under extreme operational conditions
- Gold-plated terminals to prevent oxidation and ensure long-term, reliable signal connection

Specification Notes:
Note 1: Measured in infinite baffle.
Note 2:
Tested in free air (no cabinet).
Note 3: Measured using a semi-constant current source, nominal level
2 mA.
Note 4: Measured at 20°C.
Note 5: Standard coil models simplify voice
coil inductance. Wavecor utilises the advanced Wright empirical model (TSL model in LEAP-4) using parameters Krm, Erm, Kxm,
and Exm for increased simulation accuracy.
Note 6: Specifications after burn-in are measured 12 hours
after driving the transducer with a 20 Hz sine wave for 2 hours at 10/14.1 Vrms (4/8 Ohm version). Transducers are not burned
in prior to shipping.
