RetroSound Dual Voice Coil DVC Speaker Bridging Wiring Kit

This wiring kit enables you to convert two 4 Ohm voice coils into an 8 Ohm series load. Usually supplied with RetroSound dual voice coil speakers, we supply it separately for other speakers, or if you need a spare set. This makes DVC speakers compatible with original OE factory (Original Equipment) radios requiring 8 to 10 Ohm speaker loads. The kit also includes a chassis ground wire to accommodate classic vehicle setups where one terminal of the speaker coil connects directly to the vehicle chassis. Professional installation is recommended. Note that while designed for RetroSound DVC speakers, this kit may be suitable for other speaker brands as well, please verify suitability before installation.

    Features:

    • Length of chassis wire: 14cm (approx.)
    • Length of connecting wire: 28cm (approx.)
    • Spade lugs matched to RetroSound DVC terminals (large positive, small negative), can be cut and soldered.
    • Instructions included

    Installation Tips and Wiring Options:

    • WARNING: These series wiring methods are strictly intended for original OE factory radios rated at 8 to 10 Ohms. Do not use 8 Ohm series wiring with modern 4 Ohm aftermarket head units.
    • Series Connection (8 Ohm Load): Connect the series jumper wire from the negative (-) terminal of the left channel coil to the positive (+) terminal of the right channel coil.
    • Setup Option A: OE Factory Radio with Chassis Ground: Connect the main speaker output from the radio to the positive (+) terminal on the right channel. Connect the included chassis ground wire from the negative (-) terminal on the left channel to a clean metal grounding point on the vehicle's chassis.
    • Setup Option B: OE Factory Radio with Radio Ground: Connect the radio's positive (+) speaker lead to the positive (+) terminal on the right channel, and the radio's negative (-) speaker lead to the negative (-) terminal on the left channel.
    • Terminal Identification: The positive (+) terminal uses a large spade connector, and the negative (-) terminal uses a small spade connector. Always ensure tight lug connections to avoid intermittent signals.
