Everybody knows how important the power supply of any piece of hi-fi equipment is. But how do you upgrade it? One way is to replace the bridge rectifier diodes with these hyperfast, soft recovery diodes. They can easily cope with the changes in the current draw from the transformer plus do not have the distortion and harshness that usually accompanies normal diodes. How to check you are picking the right diode:

• Voltage Rating: Ensure the repetitive peak reverse voltage rating of the diode is well above the maximum AC voltage peaks it will encounter in your circuit to prevent breakdown.
• Current Rating: Check the forward current capacity (such as the 1A rating here) to ensure it comfortably exceeds the maximum current draw of your transformer and connected load, allowing adequate headroom.
• Package Type: Confirm the physical mounting style, such as Surface Mount Technology (SMT) DO-214, matches your circuit board layout and space requirements.
