Becker Car Radio Removal Keys (Pair)
Essential set of radio removal tool keys designed to safely release factory head units from the dashboard without damaging surrounding trim. This pair of release tools is required for removing original Becker, Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and Ford single-DIN stereo units with horizontal keyways.
Fitment Disclaimer
Vehicle trim options, manufacturing mid-year changes, and regional specifications can vary. Always visually inspect your existing radio unit to confirm it utilises horizontal (or in rare cases, vertical) release slots prior to ordering. Double-DIN systems with four horizontal slots require two pairs (4 keys total) for removal. Bolted-in head units (such as Mercedes-Benz COMAND 2.5) or radios with round pin holes are not compatible with these release keys. Some model names were used across generations of unit. Always refer to the manual to confirm compatibility.
Suitability & Possible Compatibility
Suits various single-DIN factory head units and aftermarket stereos featuring twin horizontal removal slots (since 1990), including:
- Mercedes-Benz: Audio 10, Audio 30, Sound 4, Sound 5, Special, and Exquisit units (Note: COMAND 2.5 and many COMAND 2.0 units are bolted into the dashboard behind trim panels and do not use keyways - look for the slots)
- Porsche: CR-11, CR-21, CR-22, CDR-22, CR-220, CDR-220, CDR-23, and PCM1 systems
- Audi: Chorus I, Concert I, and Delta CC single-DIN stereos
- Volkswagen (VW): Alpha, Beta, Gamma IV, and Gamma V units
- Ford: European models with horizontal slot keyways (including 2000, 3000, and 4000 series)
- Ferrari & Maserati: Factory-fitted Becker Mexico, Indianapolis, Monza, Traffic Pro, and Cascade stereos
- Other Brands: Smart ForTwo, Land Rover Discovery II / Freelander (with Becker units), and aftermarket Becker or Blaupunkt radios with horizontal slots
Key Benefits
- Safe radio extraction without scratching or damaging surrounding dash components
- Durable metal construction for reliable release of internal spring clips
- Integrated finger loop handles provide a secure grip when pulling the head unit outward
- Simple push-and-release operation saves time during installation or repair work
How to Use
Align the tips of the keys with the horizontal slots located on the front face of the radio (one key per side with the straight edge facing outward). Push both keys straight into the slots until they engage the internal release mechanism with a click. Gently pull outward using the finger loops to slide the head unit out from the mounting sleeve. To release the keys after extraction, depress the retaining spring clips on the sides of the radio chassis while sliding the keys out.
