BR 3.8 Port - Bass Reflex Tube

    Description
High-Performance Bass Reflex Port: Upgrade your loudspeaker builds with our precision-engineered bass reflex tubes. Designed to optimise airflow and enhance low-frequency response, these ports allow your speakers to breathe, delivering deeper, more controlled bass without the need for larger cabinets.

    Technical Specifications:

    • Tube length: 3.5cm
    • Cutout diameter: 35 mm
    • Surface of opening: 8 cm2

Why use a Bass Reflex Tube? A bass reflex system (also known as a vented or ported design) uses the sound from the rear of the loudspeaker diaphragm to increase the efficiency of the system at low frequencies. By incorporating a tuned port like this, you can increase the bass output and achieve a lower frequency cutoff than a sealed box of the same size. Plus, it can also reduce distortion by off-loading work from the woofer at its tuning frequency; the port helps reduce cone excursion and distortion. Improve efficiency by getting more out of your amplifier power.

    Tips for a Professional Result:

To ensure the best fit, we recommend using a standard hole saw for the cutout. Once the cabinet is finished or painted, simply press the tube into place for a flush, seamless look that rivals high-end commercial loudspeakers.

    Features:

    • Tool-Free Mounting: Easy "press-fit" installation - no screws required for a clean, professional finish.
    • Enhanced Bass Response: Optimised to extend low-frequency output and improve overall speaker efficiency.
    • Aerodynamic and Anti-Turbulence Airflow Design: Smooth internal walls minimise air noise (chuffing) for clearer, more accurate sound.
    • Clean Aesthetics: High-quality matte finish that blends seamlessly with any cabinet design.
    • Space-Saving: Compact profile perfect for bookshelf speakers, satellite systems, and DIY projects.
    • Durable Build: Constructed from rigid, resonance-resistant materials for long-lasting performance, while remaining easy to integrate into various cabinet materials.
    • Can be cut shorter if needed.
    • Note that the size and number of ports is part of the design process for your speaker, if not already designated in your project, you will need to work this out as part of developing the speaker system.

    Installation Guide:

    1. Measure and Mark: Identify the correct position on your speaker cabinet for the port. Ensure there is enough internal clearance behind the hole for the full length of the tube, and that it has room to "breathe".
    2. Cut the Opening: Using a suitable sized hole saw or Forstner bit, drill the cutout hole. For the best finish, drill from the front of the cabinet.
    3. Prepare the Surface: Sand the edges of the hole slightly to remove any burrs or splinters. If you are painting or veneering your cabinet, do this before installing the port.
    4. Press Fit: Align the port with the hole and press firmly until the outer lip sits flush against the cabinet surface. The friction-fit design will hold it securely in place. Ensure that the seal is airtight.
    5. Optional Tuning: If your speaker design requires a shorter port length, the plastic tube can be neatly trimmed with a fine-toothed saw before installation.

Pro Tip: If your cutout is slightly too large, a small bead of silicone or wood glue on the internal rim can provide extra grip and an airtight seal.
