BMC MG Under Dash 5x7 Inch 15 Ohm & 4 Ohm Speaker - Classic British Car Restoration
Description
This 5 x 7" fullrange speaker is a faithful reproduction driver designed specifically
for under-dash mounting in classic BMC (British Motor Corporation) MG models and similar classic British vehicles. Built
with a 15 Ohm primary voice coil, it provides the correct electrical load required by original factory radios (such as vintage
Smiths, Motorola, or Radiomobile units). It also features an independent secondary 4 Ohm voice coil, allowing enthusiasts
to connect a hidden modern Bluetooth receiver or auxiliary system to the same physical dashboard speaker without altering
the original interior layout.

Vehicle Compatibility & Dual Voice Coil Features:
- Original Radio Matching: Correct 15 Ohm impedance prevents overheating and output stage damage in vintage transistor or valve-based factory radios.
- Factory Fitment: Designed to fit original 5 x 7" under-dash mounting locations and brackets in classic MG models (such as MGB, Midget, and Magnette) and related BMC vehicles.
- Secondary 4 Ohm Auxiliary Input: Allows a discrete secondary modern audio source (such as a hidden Bluetooth module or modern 4 Ohm receiver) to drive the same speaker location without replacing the factory radio or cutting original dash panels.
Installation & Vehicle Fitment Warnings:
- Do NOT Combine Coils: Never connect the 15 Ohm and 4 Ohm voice coils together on the same channel or amplifier. They must remain completely separate circuits to prevent severe signal distortion and coil damage.
- Check Radio Impedance Requirement: Confirm your original radio specifies a 15 Ohm or 16 Ohm load before connecting to the primary coil. Standard modern 4 Ohm stereo radios must be connected to the 4 Ohm terminals only.
- Under-Dash Clearance Verification: Check under-dash space, wiring loom clearance, and bracket alignment prior to installation. Ensure depth (50 mm) and cut-out size (118 x 170 mm) match your vehicle's factory mounting area.
- Polarity & Grounding: Ensure correct wiring polarity when connecting to positive or negative earth original vehicle systems.
