    How It Works & What It Does
    The primary role of a resistor in a crossover network is to convert excess electrical power into thermal energy—typically used in L-pad or series circuits to attenuate (pad down) a high-efficiency driver so it matches the rest of the speaker system.

    Traditional ceramic power resistors consist of a wire coil wound around an insulating core. At high frequencies, this coiled wire behaves like an inductor, creating unwanted resistance spikes and phase shifts that muffle delicate tweeter signals. Visaton MOX resistors eliminate this issue by depositing a conductive metal oxide layer directly onto a ceramic core. Because there are no wire windings, residual inductance is virtually zero. This allows fast transient rise times and crystal-clear high-frequency reproduction without altering your crossover point.

    How to Use
    MOX resistors are ideal for use in high-frequency circuits, particularly in tweeter L-pads, impedance linearisation (Zobel networks), and midrange level matching.

    When installing, solder the leads securely into your crossover circuit board or terminal strip. Do not bend the leads directly against the body, leave a small gap to avoid stressing the resistor body. Because power resistors generate heat during high-volume playback, ensure they are mounted with a small air gap around the body rather than pressed tightly against the PCB or enclosure walls. Always select a resistor value and power rating appropriate for your system to ensure reliable, long-term operation.
