RF Explorer Power Limiter (DC - 3 GHz 3-in-1 Protection, DC Block & Attenuator) - Local Australian Stock
Description
The RF Explorer Power Limiter is a custom engineered 3-in-1 inline protection device
designed to safeguard spectrum analysers and signal generators against high power RF fields. Most RF Explorer models feature
input power limits between +5 dBm and +10 dBm beyond which internal front-end damage can occur. Fitting this power limiter
extends external input signal protection up to +30 dBm (1 Watt), matching the protection level of high tier models. By combining
a power limiter, a 16V DC block, and a 6 dB attenuator into a single compact body, it eliminates the need for multiple external
adapters while expanding measurement capability.
Key Features:
- 3-in-1 Inline Protection: Integrates a power limiter, DC block, and fixed 6 dB attenuator into one compact unit.
- High Power Handling: Protects sensitive RF Explorer inputs from external RF signals up to +30 dBm (1 Watt).
- Broadband Performance: Operates across a wide frequency spectrum from DC to 3.0 GHz.
- Built-in DC Blocking: Blocks external DC voltages up to 16V DC to prevent front-end damage and measurement distortion.
- Rugged Housing: Enclosed in a robust, lightweight machined aluminium case with gold-plated brass SMA connectors.
Technical Specifications:
- Frequency Range: DC - 3.0 GHz
- Maximum Input Power: +30 dBm (1 Watt)
- Maximum Output Power: +4 dBm
- DC Blocking Voltage: Up to +16V DC
- Attenuation: 6 dB (reduces input power to 1/4 at the receiver)
- Nominal Impedance: 50 Ohm
- Maximum VSWR: 1.25 : 1
- Connector Type: SMA Male to SMA Female (Gold-plated brass)
- Enclosure Material: Machined aluminium
Suggested Uses & Applications:
- Protecting handheld spectrum analysers during near-field antenna measurement and transmitter testing.
- Safe RF bench testing in environments with unknown or unpredictable high power signal levels.
- Blocking DC bias voltages when probing active RF circuits and amplifier stages up to 16V.
Operating & Setup Warnings (Please Read Before Ordering & Use):
- Attenuator Menu Offset: Because this device introduces a 6 dB attenuation, you must set OffsetDB: +006 in the ATTENUATOR MENU of your RF Explorer to ensure accurate power level readings on screen.
- Directional Connector Installation: This device is directional. Connect the SMA Male plug directly to the RF Explorer input port and attach your antenna or RF signal source to the SMA Female socket.
- Absolute Maximum Ratings: Do not expose the input to RF power levels exceeding +30 dBm (1 Watt) or DC voltages exceeding 16V DC, as exceeding these limits will cause permanent damage to the limiter and connected equipment.
