Mundorf M-SOLDER Supreme Silver Gold Solder for Wires
Description
Mundorf M-SOLDER Supreme SilverGold is widely regarded as the ultimate audiophile-grade
solder available on the global market. Engineered and manufactured in Germany to absolute precision, it features an exceptionally
high silver content alongside a pure gold trace to deliver maximum electrical conductivity and zero signal loss. This second-to-none
solder is the premier choice for high-end hifi applications, including premium audio cable assembly, amplifier upgrades,
delicate valve/tube equipment restoration, and flagship DIY speaker projects where preserving absolute signal purity is
paramount.
Features:
- Low Odour: Formulated for a more pleasant, cleaner workshop environment.
- Optimum Processing: Fluid flow characteristics make it easy to achieve flawless, shiny joins.
- Copper Compatible: Bonds perfectly with copper PCB traces, component leads, and premium terminal connectors.
- Efficient Heat Transfer: The advanced alloy formula liquefies and flows incredibly fast upon reaching its melting point. This rapid "wetting" action allows you to complete joints in just 1 to 2 seconds, drastically reducing the overall heat exposure (dwell time) and protecting sensitive audiophile components from prolonged thermal stress.
- User & Environmentally Friendly: Standard lead-free, amine-free, diamine-free, and urea-free chemistry.
- Available Sizes: 10-gram roll (approx. 1.7 metres), 50-gram roll (approx. 8.5 metres), or 100-gram roll (approx. 17 metres).
Technical Specifications:
- Diameter: 1.0 mm
- Alloy Composition:
- Sn: 88.6% (Tin)
- Cu: 1.8% (Copper)
- Ag: 9.5% (Silver)
- Au: 0.1% (Gold)
- Melting point: 290 °C / 554 °F
- Flux Core: Special NO-CLEAN liquid 2.5% liquid content (Type 2.2.3 B - DIN EN 29 454.1)
- Metal Purity: Minimum 99.97% (typical 99.99%) purity for both the silver and gold content.
How It Works & What It Does
Standard electronic solders can restrict high-end audio performance
by introducing microscopic resistance at vital connection points. The Supreme version overcomes this by utilising a massive
9.5% pure silver content, radically accelerating signal velocity and unlocking the finest micro-details across the soundstage.
The addition of the 0.1% gold trace completely alters the crystalline matrix of the alloy as it solidifies, preventing the micro-fractures common to high-silver mixtures and ensuring long-term structural integrity. Simultaneously, the integrated premium "No-Clean" liquid flux core instantly cleans surface oxidation upon heat application, resulting in flawless, mirror-like solder joints with a highly reliable, corrosion-proof atomic bond that requires no post-solder cleaning.
How to Use
Due to its ultra-high silver content, the M-SOLDER Supreme features a significantly higher
melting point of 290 °C. To ensure clean fluid flow and prevent cold solder joints, it is essential to use a high-quality,
temperature-controlled soldering station set between 420 °C and 440 °C.
Thoroughly clean and tin your iron tip before starting. Because audio components, thick wire gauges, and heavy speaker terminals act as massive heat sinks, position your iron tip to heat both the component lead and the terminal pad together for a brief moment. Apply the 1.00 mm Supreme solder directly onto the heated joint (not onto the iron tip itself). Allow the metal to flow smoothly around the junction to form a clean, concave fillet, then remove the solder wire and the iron. Let the joint cool completely naturally without disturbance to guarantee a perfect, vibration-proof electrical connection.
