Installation and Placement

The HPA1 uses active magnetic field circuitry to enhance radio reception. Using the included self-adhesive backing, the compact control box can be discreetly mounted to glass, hidden under the dashboard, placed inside convertible seats, or tucked into a headliner. For the best performance, simply ensure the unit is placed away from any metal shielding. We recommend temporarily testing a few different locations before permanently fixing the box to find the absolute best spot for reception.

Important Warning for Original Vintage Radios

This is an active, amplified antenna specifically tailored for modern digital (DSP) tuners, such as new RetroSound units or modern aftermarket radios that are designed for boosted signals. We do not recommend using this amplified antenna with original 1960s or 1970s factory analogue radios. The high-gain amplifier can easily overpower a sensitive vintage tuner, causing RF overload and cross-modulation distortion (which results in muffled or non-existent audio). If you are using a completely original vintage radio, a passive dipole antenna is strongly recommended instead for where a hidden aerial is required.
