140mm (5.5") Magnetic Shielding Ring for Speakers KM-140

Speakers can cause all sorts of trouble when placed near televisions (CRT). Their magnetic field can alter the colours of the screen and distort the picture. If left to long, the damage may be permanent! We have a ring-shaped magnets of 140 mm diameter for the compensation of this stray magnetic field. The ring has to be glued on the rear pole-plate (eg with strong glue - metal to metal - consult your local hardware store for the best type), reducing the magnetic field to a minimum, allowing speakers positioning of about 20 cm apart from TV or computer screens, depending on the size and field strength of the existing magnet.

The shielding magnet is suitable for many types of speakers, especially our own Visaton range, however they will still work for other brands. It is important to match the size as much as possible, too much variation will cause leakage. A smaller size will still help and will still reduce the magnetic footprint. Note that these are not suitable for speakers using neodymium magnets.

Another use for these magnetic rings is to slightly change the driver's parameters, Qes and hence Qts. This must also be kept in mind when attaching the magnetic shielding rings to drivers as an unintended consequence. For average surround sound speakers, this is usually not a concern.
