We have a bituminous deadening sheets suitable for reducing vibration and ringing from metal and thin wooden surfaces such as the lid of your DVD or CD Player plus inside speaker boxes and car interiors. Many devices do not utilise such deadening and those that do often only apply it to a small area. Our deadening sheets will help prevent unwanted noises being caused by the vibration from music along with making your unit more solid!
The deadening sheet is composed of a flexible dampening material with a peel & stick adhesive layer. It has been designed to reduce and damp vibration plus reduce sound transmission. It stops the tinny, ringing sound you hear when you tap the lid of many electronics devices. These plain metal surfaces cause extra sound to be produced by vibrations, colouring the music from your hi-fi. If you spend so much on cables, speakers and amps, why let this flaw stand?
Installation
The deadening sheet is installed inside the unit's lid simply by peeling the contact off and pushing into place. You don't need to cover the entire surface of the unit if you don't want to .... a partial covering will certainly improve the situation. The sheets we provide will in this case be enough for two units of average size. Of course if you want the best result, cover as much as possible of the chassis, but read the important notes below!
Follow these easy steps!
- ** Turn Off and Disconnect Power **
- Remove lid - make a note of where the screws came from.
- Measure size, taking care not to cover ventilation holes and screw holes. Also watch out for moving parts of any mechanisms.
- Trim if necessary using a sharp knife or strong scissors.
- Ensure surface of lid is clean, dry and free from grease and dust.
- Peel protective layer off the deadening sheet and place sheet on surface.
- Apply even pressure for a while, such as a large book.
- Reassemble your unit. Done!
Important Notes
It is important to keep in mind that these sheets will also cause an increase in the amount of heat trapped inside your unit. This is why it is important not to cover any ventilation holes. Only covering part of the lid will assist also. Amplifiers are particularly important to watch out for.
Also watch out for space inside the unit. In few cases internal parts or the mechanism may come into contact with the deadening sheet. So ensure there is adequate clearance before sticking the sheet in place. You may be able cut the sheet to shape to avoid this problem.
